# Phy — AI Physics Tutor and Problem Solver

Phy is Nerd Notes' AI physics assistant. Students paste or photograph a
physics problem and Phy solves, grades, and explains it in a streaming chat

## What Phy can do

- **Solve and explain** — step-by-step solutions streamed in real time, with structured step breakdowns and formula cards rendered inline.
- **Image input** — upload a screenshot or photo of a problem or handwritten working and Phy reads it.
- **Interactive learning tools** — responses can include graphs, hints, practice questions, and suggested follow-ups, not just prose.
- **Agent tools** — a research agent for deeper dives (results open in a side panel) and an image generator that renders diagrams inline.
- **Saved threads** — conversations are stored on the student's account and can be resumed; threads older than 12 months are cleaned up automatically.
